Browsy Links turns a link into a short numeric code you can type into the Browsy app on your TV. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect and why. The short version: we keep as little as possible, we don't sell your data, and we never store your files.

What we collect

  • The link and its code. When you create a code, we store the destination URL, the code, its type, and basic counts (when it was created and last opened). We store the link you point to, never the file itself.
  • Your edit key. Stored only as a one-way hash. We can't read it, which is why we can't recover it if you lose it.
  • Technical data. Your IP address is used briefly to rate-limit and prevent abuse, along with standard server logs. We don't use it to build a profile of you.
  • Local storage (Pro only). If you use a private unlock link for reserved codes, that token is saved in your own browser, never on our servers beyond validating it.
  • Your email (only if you ask). If you use “email me the code and key,” we pass your name and email to our email provider to send that one message. If you also tick “keep me posted,” we add you to our Browsy list to send occasional product news. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave anytime.

Accounts in the Browsy app (favorites backup)

The Browsy app lets you save favorites on your device with no account at all. If you choose to back them up, or to share them as a collection code, you sign in with your email. Here's exactly what that means:

  • What we store. Your email address and your favorites list (the titles and links you saved). Sign-in uses a one-time emailed code, so there is no password; sign-in codes and device tokens are stored only as one-way hashes.
  • What it's for. Restoring your favorites on any device, and powering your one permanent share code, which always serves your current list. Anyone you give that code can see the collection it contains; you can replace the code anytime from the app.
  • Email you'll get. Sign-in codes when you request them, and occasional Browsy product news. Every news email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Deleting it. In the app: Settings → Favorites Backup → Delete my data. No app? Delete from any browser at browsy.app/delete-account. Either way it immediately removes your email, your backup, your share code, and your entry on our mailing list from our servers. You can also just sign out, which keeps the backup but removes the account from that device.

Malware scanning

To keep people safe, links are screened against known malware and phishing, and you can scan a file before installing it. To do that, the target URL (and, for a deep scan, the file) is sent to third-party security services, Google Safe Browsing and OPSWAT MetaDefender, which return a verdict. We cache verdicts so we don't re-scan the same thing repeatedly.

Who we share with

We don't sell your data. We rely on a few service providers to run the site: Cloudflare (delivery, encryption, and security), the scanning services above, Resend (sign-in codes, codes you ask us to email, and the opt-in Browsy list), and Google Analytics (aggregate site usage). That's it.

Cookies & analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages people visit and roughly how many visitors we get. It sets a first-party cookie with a random id and reports aggregate usage to Google. Google Analytics does not record your full IP address, and we don't use any advertising cookies or sell this data. The only other thing stored in your browser is the optional Pro unlock token described above.

How long we keep it

A code sticks around while it's in use. Links that go untouched for a long period may be deleted automatically. You can remove any link you created at any time.

Your choices

You're in control of every link you make: with your edit key you can point a code somewhere new, or delete it, on the Manage your code page.

Children

Browsy Links isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top. Continued use means you're okay with the current version.
